Medication management & ongoing care

Steady, thoughtful psychiatric care for children, teens, and adults, ages 6 to 60, from one doctor who knows your whole story. Medication is one tool among several here, and never the starting point. Understanding is.

The approach

Understanding comes first

Before we talk about any prescription, I build what psychiatrists call a formulation, an individualized understanding of what’s actually going on: your medical story, your biology, your temperament, and the history that shaped how you experience the world. Treatment is built on that understanding, not on a symptom checklist.

Being a physician means the body is part of that picture. Sleep, nutrition, and overall physical health shape mood, attention, and behavior more than people expect, and I’d rather understand what’s feeding a symptom before I add anything to treat it.

When medication does make sense, I prescribe conservatively: start carefully, change one thing at a time, and keep asking whether each medication is still earning its place. Sometimes the most useful recommendation isn’t a new prescription at all. It’s a change to sleep, structure, or supports, or a fresh look at the diagnosis itself.

Ongoing care

What follow-ups look like here

Unhurried follow-ups

Visits are long enough to actually think together: what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s changed at home, at school, or at work. Never a rushed med check.

One doctor, start to finish

No rotating prescribers. The physician who evaluated you is the physician at every follow-up, so nothing about your story has to be repeated or re-explained.

Care that moves with your life

Plans are revisited as life changes: a new school year, adolescence, a new job, a new question. Nothing is set-and-forget.

I provide ongoing care across areas including autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, sleep, and emotional regulation. These are areas, not an exhaustive list. If you’re unsure whether what you’re facing fits, say so in the inquiry form; fit is confirmed before anything is scheduled.

Coordination

Working alongside your team

Solo doesn’t mean siloed. With your permission, I coordinate with the people already helping: therapists, pediatricians and primary care clinicians, and schools, so everyone is working from the same understanding, and care points in one direction.

ADHD medication

Careful, and by the book

Medication is often part of good ADHD care. When it is, prescribing follows all federal and state requirements, and periodic in-person visits may be required. Whether medication is right for you or your child is an individual decision we make together, carefully, and never on autopilot.

Logistics

Telehealth, practically

Visits are by video, wherever you are in Massachusetts and Rhode Island; you’ll need to be physically located in Massachusetts or Rhode Island at the time of each telehealth visit. In-person appointments are also available in Massachusetts, and may be necessary depending on the case and the evaluation process. We can move between the two as your needs change.
